Cebu cop, baby girl among 4 new COVID-19 patients in E. Visayas

TACLOBAN CITY –– A Cebuano policeman who was assigned in Eastern Visayas was among four persons who recently contracted the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the region.

The 43-year-old policeman was the first member of the police organization who contracted the virus in the region, said John Paul Roca, information officer of the Department of Health in Eastern Visayas.

As of June 24, Eastern Visayas has recorded 435 COVID-19 cases.

Also among the latest COVID-19 patient was a one-year-old girl from Tabon-Tabon, Leyte province.

Roca said the baby girl was infected by her 26-year-old mother, who earlier returned to their municipality from Cebu City.

Dr. Minerva Molon, DOH-8 regional director, reiterated her appeal for the public to strictly observe all the health protocols so as not to get the dreaded virus.

“Please be reminded that it is only through our full cooperation and support that we can contain the spread of COVID-19 by following all the health protocols,” she said.
