Suspected drug pusher slain in shootout with Legazpi City police
LEGAZPI CITY –– An alleged illegal drug pusher was killed in a shootout with police in a drug sting on Thursday in this city, a police report said Friday.
Manuel Marasigan, a resident of Guinobatan town, and his live-in partner Ednalyn Abellano, were caught selling suspected “shabu” (crystal meth) to an undercover agent at their house in Barangay Bonot at 3:10 p.m. according to Major Maria Luisa Calubaquib, Bicol police spokesperson.
Sensing that the transaction was a police set up, Marasigan tried to escape and drew his handgun. He fired at the police, prompting the latter to retaliate, killing him instantly.
Calubaquib said Marasigan, who was earlier arrested for illegal drug selling, was in the city’s drug watch list.
Recovered from his possession were three sachets of shabu, a handgun, and three spent shells.
Abellano surrendered and a sachet of shabu was recovered in her possession.
