Strict lockdown, quarantine measures up in Quezon town with 9 COVID-19 cases

LUCENA CITY –– The mayor of Catanauan town in Quezon province continued to implement strict lockdown and quarantine measures in areas where the nine confirmed coronavirus (COVID-19) patients originated.

Mayor Ramon Orfanel said on his Facebook page that authorities have been conducting massive disinfection of roads, houses, and other public places in Barangay Dahican and Barangay 10 in the town proper.

“Next to be disinfected is the perimeter around the municipal building,” he said.

On Sunday, the town located in the Bondoc Peninsula district, registered three new COVID-19 patients, bringing the total recorded cases in the locality to nine with no recovered patients yet.

The three new patients, a 61-year-old and 30-year-old male; and a 60-year-old female, were traced to Barangay 10 and reportedly housemates of “Case #5.”

All nine validated virus carriers in the locality have been confined at the Quezon Medical Center in Lucena City.

Quezon, which is under general community quarantine, has a total of 134 confirmed COVID-19 cases as of Tuesday morning.

At least 93 of the patients have recovered, but nine others had died, the latest bulletin from the Quezon Public Information Office shows.

The province now has 32 active virus carriers.

However, local authorities in different parts of the province still keep watch over 116 “suspected virus carriers,” all confined in medical facilities, while another 73 remain under home quarantine.
