Impeachment court junks motion to cite prosecution in contempt

MANILA, Philippines – A motion to cite for contempt members of the prosecution team during the impeachment trial of Chief Justice Renato Corona has been denied by the Senate, acting as an impeachment court.

Senate President Juan Ponce-Enrile, who was presiding over the trial on Monday, said the lawyer, Fernando Perito, has  no role in the  impeachment of  Corona because he was neither lawyer for the defense nor the prosecution.
