Burglars steal P1.2M worth of jewelry from trader’s home in Naga City

LEGAZPI CITY –– A businessman lost P1.2 million worth of expensive pieces of jewelry to burglars, who entered his residence in Naga City on Wednesday, police said Thursday.

Fernan Gutierrez, 32, a businessman and resident of Barangay Sta. Cruz, reported the incident to the police on Thursday morning, said Major Maria Luisa Calubaquib, Bicol police spokesperson.

The report said the burglars stole five expensive signature wristwatches worth P1.1 million, three necklaces (P52,000), two earrings (P12,000), and a bracelet (P20,000).

The initial investigation showed that the incident took place between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m. Wednesday. It was learned that the burglar entered through the main gate and into the unlocked back door of the house to get to the victim’s bedroom.

Police also discovered that the security camera installed inside the room was also taken by the suspect. There was also no sign of forced entry.

Probers are still investigating the case.
