Immigration employee tests positive for virus

/ 04:32 AM June 09, 2020

MANILA, Philippines — An employee of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) has tested positive for the new coronavirus, prompting the bureau to suspend operations at its main office in Intramuros, Manila, on Monday to undergo disinfection.

In a statement, the BI said the employee who tested positive for the virus was among those who underwent rapid antibody test last week. Results of a confirmatory swab test released on Saturday showed he had the virus.

His coworkers will undergo mandatory tests to determine if they, too, have acquired the virus.
