MANILA, Philippines – Various militant groups are set to go to the Senate on Monday for the start of the impeachment trial against Supreme Court Chief Justice Renato Corona.

According to a 990AM report, members of Akbayan and the Bantay Gloria Network, led by Akbayan partylist spokesperson Risa Hontiveros and Black and White Movement convenor Leah Navarro, are expected to converge at the Senate within the day to urge for the immediate impeachment of Corona.

The report said that the groups saw the impeachment of the chief justice at the House of Representatives as a victory against what they considered to be former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s last line of defense.
