34 health, medical workers in Quezon recover

LUCENA CITY –– Thirty-four health and medical workers, who got ill with the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Quezon province, have recovered.

Dr. Rolando Padre, director of the provincial government-run Quezon Medical Center (QMC) here, revealed on Friday that of the 34 recovered COVID-19 patients, eight are doctors, 17 nurses, three nursing aides, two utility/janitorial workers, and one each respiratory therapist, midwife, medical technologist, and radiologic technologist.

He said the healed health and medical workers are from QMC, Lucena United Doctors Hospital and Medical Center, both located in this city, and Magsaysay Memorial District Hospital in Lopez town.

Padre said there could have been more recovered health workers from other private hospitals in the province, but he did not have the data.

As of Friday, Quezon has 97 confirmed COVID-19 cases on record, but at least 69 of them have recovered, and eight others have died.

The number of active coronavirus carriers in the province is down to 20.

In Lucena City, four of 10 remaining active virus carriers are health and medical workers including a female physician.
