Fire hits houses near Quiapo mosque
MANILA, Philippines—A fire that gutted several houses near a mosque in Quiapo, Manila has been declared under control, the Manila Fire Station said Friday.
Fire station staff Rodel Romel said the blaze of still unknown origin started at 4:08 p.m. and razed several houses near the Golden Mosque along Arlegui Street.
The fire was declared under control around 5 p.m., he said.
Romel said that no damage to the mosque, a place of worship for Islam followers, had been reported. There were also no reports of injuries and casualties, he said.
The number of houses affected by the fire had yet to be determined, Romel said.
