Battle vs COVID-19 continues in Quezon
LUCENA CITY –– The battle against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is not yet over even under the general community quarantine (GCQ) status in Quezon province.
Governor Danio Suarez said Tuesday that the province’s status would be downgraded to GCQ effective May 16, but urged the people not to be complacent.
“We have to accept the reality that the problem with COVID-19 is far from over. Unfortunately, there is no vaccine, no solution in sight even after the term of President Duterte,” Suarez said in a phone interview.
He explained that most restrictions under the present enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) would still be imposed, but with limited leniency to allow the people to return to work and refuel the economy.
He emphasized that the most important task even under the GCQ was for everybody to continue the observance of all COVID-19 safety and protection measures to defend themselves from the virus.
“This virus is not as lethal. If we have strong body resistance, you can beat the disease. But still, the most important task is to kill the virus,” Suarez stressed.
