Bukidnon governor orders removal of COVID-19 checkpoints
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY—Bukidnon Gov. Jose Maria Zubiri ordered the removal by Friday (May 1) of checkpoints in the province that had been established to enforce Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) against COVID-19.
Zubiri said his office received numerous complaints about the checkpoints slowing the flow of vehicles.
“These quarantine control points are drawing criticism from the public as it hampers the daily movement of motorists and residents,” Zubiri said.
He said the decision to remove the checkpoints was recommended by the provincial task force that oversees policy and enforcement of measures to stop coronavirus transmission.
Zubiri said he expected to see unhampered movement of vehicles in the province starting on Friday.
