Pasig hands over 2,000 COVID-19 test kits to The Medical City

MANILA, Philippines — The local government of Pasig City handed over 2,000 real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test kits to The Medical City, Mayor Vico Sotto announced on Tuesday.
Sotto via Twitter said Pasig received the 2,000 test kits, worth P1,400 each or P2,956,800 in total, from the SM Foundation. The local government’s health workers will swab the patients while the said hospital will process the tests.
Pasig’s local government and The Medical City have previously signed a partnership agreement to address backlogs of testing persons checked for possible infection of the novel coronavirus.

The Medical City has earlier been granted Stage 5 accreditation by the Department of Health, allowing Pasig to conduct up to 270 COVID-19 tests per week, according to Sotto.
As of Monday, Pasig City has recorded 305 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 79 recoveries, while 55 people have died. Nationwide, 7,777 confirmed COVID-19 cases have been recorded along with 932 recoveries and 511 deaths.
