Manila public school workers get P5k cash subsidy due to ECQ
MANILA, Philippines — Employees of public schools in Manila City will receive P5,000 worth of cash assistance from the Manila government as the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) continues to take effect to curb the COVID-19 pandemic.
Manila Mayor Isko Moreno on Friday approved P64-million worth of funds for over 11,000 public elementary and high school personnel.
The cash aid will be sent through ATM cards of the teachers and maintenance personnel in public schools.
Under the ECQ, classes were suspended to avoid mass gatherings and stop the spread of the new coronavirus.
As of Thursday, Manila has 547 residents who tested positive for the novel coronavirus, which causes the coronavirus disease.
