Senior citizens in Parañaque to get P1,000 gift check
The Parañaque local government will be giving P1,000 worth of gift checks to each senior citizen in the city to help them out during the Luzon-wide lockdown.
In a statement on Wednesday, Mayor Edwin Olivarez said the SM gift checks, which would be delivered through courier to the houses of the beneficiaries, was part of the city’s relief operations for the elderly—the “most vulnerable and equally helpless.” A total of 58,429 senior citizens from the city’s 16 barangays who had registered under the Office of Senior Citizens Affairs (Osca) Care program are among the recipients.
The gift checks that are valid for a year can be used to purchase groceries or other items from any SM outlet, either by the beneficiary or their authorized person.
According to Osca head Dante Pacheco, non-Osca Care members can also get the P1,000 incentive by presenting an original senior citizen national ID card to their respective barangay senior citizen association president. Registration will be until April 28.
