MANILA, Philippines — An additional 28 people were found positive for the new virus that causes COVID-19 in Manila, boosting the city’s total count to 547, Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso reported Thursday.

In a City Address aired on Facebook, Moreno also said that the City Health Department likewise documented 148 more suspected carriers of the disease, increasing the total to 764 “suspects.”

Based on the revised categories of the Department of Health, a suspect refers to a person under investigation for the infectious disease but is not yet tested for the virus.

Moreno further said that so far, COVID-19 mass testing in the nation’s capital city, which began on April 13, has covered 2,352 people. The collected specimens were sent to the Research Institute of Tropical Medicine or the Philippine General Hospital for processing, he added.
