Quezon City virus death toll stands at 75, with 15 new fatalities

MANILA, Philippines — The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has claimed the lives of 15 more residents of Quezon City, bringing the death toll in the city at 75.

This is as the number of cases in the city rose to 941 as of 11 p.m. on April 14, the city government said, citing data from the Department of Health (DOH).

Meanwhile, the number of cases with complete addresses in Quezon City stands at 786, and 634 of these cases have been validated.

A total of 634 COVID-19 cases are considered active.

Six residents were able to beat COVID-19, raising the total number of recoveries to 70.

Barangay Matandang Balara remains to have the highest number of cases with 30 COVID-positive residents, 25 of whom are considered active.

Barangay Batasan Hills is a close second with 29 cases, of which 26 are active.

Thirty-one barangays remain under the extreme enhanced community quarantine due to the high occurrence of cases in their areas.

The first temporary quarantine facility in the city, dubbed as “Hope 1”, is now at its full capacity with 34 COVID-positive patients and six suspected cases.

Meanwhile, the second quarantine facility “Hope 2” added 134 beds, making the total of available beds at the facility at 203.

The city government has also conducted community-based COVID-19 testing to 107 residents on April 14.

At the same time, it apprehended 119 residents of Barangay Krus na Ligas for violating the quarantine rules and not wearing face masks when in public.

So far, the Philippines has a total of 5,223 cases of COVID-19, with 335 fatalities and 295 recoveries.
