A six-year-old boy afflicted with cystic fibrosis, from Tennessee, United States, has finally tested negative for COVID-19 after contracting the disease last month.

Cystic fibrosis is “a progressive, genetic disease that causes persistent lung infections and limits the ability to breathe over time,” as described by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Joseph Bostain and his mother Sabrina found out that he tested positive for COVID-19 on March 19, as per her Facebook post on the same day. At the time, the Tennessee Department of Health advised the family to place Joseph under a two-week quarantine at home.

Sabrina continued to post regular updates on Joseph’s condition throughout his necessary quarantine. Over a week after her first post, Sabrina revealed that her son finally tested negative for the disease on April 1.

“Today Joseph can tell you how he is doing himself!!” she said in her post on the same day alongside a clip of little Joseph.

“Thank you for all the cards and the prayers and the gifts,” he exclaimed. “And I’m a cystic fibrosis warrior and I beat COVID-19.”
