‘Praise God!’ Comelec’s Guanzon tests negative for COVID-19
MANILA, Philippines — Commissioner Rowena Guanzon of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) has tested negative for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The Comelec commissioner was earlier classified as a person under investigation (PUI) after being in contact with an official who was COVID-19 positive and had exhibited symptoms of the disease.
As of April 3, there are 3,018 COVID-19 cases in the country, with the death toll reaching 136. Meanwhile, the total tally of recovered persons in the country is 52.
COVID-19 is a respiratory disease caused by the novel coronavirus that first emerged in China’s city of Wuhan in Hubei province in late 2019.

The virus causes mild symptoms such as fever and cough for most people but can cause serious illness such as pneumonia for others, especially older adults and people with existing health problems.
Coronavirus is a family of viruses, which surfaces have a crown-like appearance. The viruses are named for the spikes on their surfaces.
