MANILA, Philippines — A Barangay Public Safety Officer (BPSO) volunteer died while a fellow volunteer was wounded after they were shot by four gunmen on two motorcycles in Quezon City Wednesday night.

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) on Thursday reported that Ronald Cumayas, 38, and Aldredo Batino, 20, were manning the checkpoint along Eagle Street in Sitio Veterans, Barangay Bagong Silangan when they were attacked.

Cumayas sustained multiple gunshot wounds and died on the spot while Batino, who was hit on the right arm, managed to seek assistance from nearby barangay officials.
