Ecija nurse dies from COVID-19, 2 other patients discharged
CABANATUAN CITY –– A 44-year-old male nurse died at dawn on Wednesday (April 1), the first coronavirus disease (COVID-19) patient to die in Nueva Ecija.
Fr. Arnold Abelardo, spokesperson of the Nueva Ecija inter-agency task force COVID-19, said Patient 16 died at 1:14 a.m. A resident of Gen. Natividad town, the fatality was admitted to a hospital on March 21.
Abelardo did not release further details about the nurse, saying, “Please help us respect the patient and family as they mourn the passing of their loved one.”
On Tuesday night (March 31), Gen. Natividad Mayor Anita Arocena announced through social media that Patient 519, a 19-year-old resident, had recovered from his ailment and had been discharged.
Earlier on the same day, the Cabanatuan City Information and Tourism Office disclosed that the city’s first confirmed COVID-19 case had also recovered.
