Navotas City records 1st COVID-19 case; patient dies

MANILA, Philippines — Navotas City has recorded its first case of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the local government reported Saturday.
That person recorded as the city’s first case, however, died, according to data provided by the Navotas City LGU posted on Twitter.
According to city Mayor Toby Tiangco, cases in Navotas is expected to rise as the patient came from a place that was usually crowded.

Meanwhile, the LGU added that the city has 125 persons under monitoring (PUM) for the viral disease, as well as 21 persons under investigation (PUI).
A person is considered a PUM if he/she has history of travel to a country where local transmission of COVID-19 was recorded, but is asymptomatic.
One is considered a PUI, meanwhile, is he/she has history of travel, and is symptomatic, meaning he/she has signs of respiratory illness, dry cough or fever.
As of Saturday, the country’s COVID-19 cases reached 1,075, with 68 deaths and 35 recoveries.
