Robredo raised P36.2M; bought, distributed over 30, 400 PPEs so far

MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Leni Robredo has so far raised P36.2 million since her office launched its donation drive for the procurement of personal protective equipment (PPE) for medical frontliners.

Robredo enumerated in a statement Saturday the sources of the amount that have enabled the Office of the Vice President (OVP) to distribute 30,450 PPEs for 2,030 health workers in 93 communities and hospitals.

Health workers such as doctors and nurses have been at the frontlines of the global fight against the highly-infectious COVID-19.

“Mula ito sa pinagsamang 5.9 million pesos na iniambag ng Office of the Vice President at ang higit 30.2 million pesos na nakalap mula sa donation drive na sinimulan ng ating Angat Buhay partner, ang Kaya Natin. Nakalaan ang halagang ito para makabili ng personal protective equipment at iba pang pangangailangan para sa ating mga frontliners,” Vice President Leni Robredo said in a statement.

(This amount was the combined P5.9 million that was contributed by Office of the Vice President and the more than P30.2 million raised from the donation drive that was started by our Angat Buhay partner, the Kaya Natin. This money is allocated to purchase personal protective equipment and other needs of our frontliners.)

Apart from this, OVP said it is also set to distribute workers’ protective suits in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

Robredo then revealed that OVP continues to receive requests from communities and hospitals for PPEs.
