/ 04:06 PM March 27, 2020

MANILA, Philippines — Lawyer Carlos Llanes Navarro made a history of sorts when he became the first Filipino to have been stricken by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) following a trip to Japan in February.

But Navarro, then known in medical circles as PH4 (patient no. 4), would now be known for his story of surviving what could be the worst war in contemporary history, where the enemy is unseen but fatal.

In this interview by INQUIRER.NET reporter Neil Arwin Mercado, Atty. Navarro opens about his life-changing experience inside the isolation room of the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM), where his battle against the virus took place.
