Gov’t agencies work together to take care of stranded passengers at Clark airport

MANILA, Philippines — Several groups are making sure that those in quarantine in Clark, Pampanga are in safe hands.
The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), Clark Development Corporation (CDC), Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC), and Luzon International Premier Airport Development Corporation (LIPAD) are working as a team to serve the more than 200 passengers who remain stranded in the city’s air terminal, and make sure they are well taken care of.
“To ensure the welfare and safety of these passengers amid the COVID-19 threat, BCDA, CDC, CIAC and LIPAD have coordinated efforts to provide them with the necessary assistance, as the entirety of Luzon observes the Enhanced Community Quarantine,” said the group in a joint statement.
The Athletes’ Village in New Clark City, which was used during the 2019 Southeast Asian Games, has been converted into a quarantine facility for repatriates from the United States who were aboard the Grand Princess cruise ship.
New Clark City, however, won’t just be the sole facility that will house the passengers as other locations in Clark including the Mansion Hotel was also utilized during the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine.
Article continues after this advertisement“They will be taken good care of while in Clark, until the imposed lockdowns in their destinations are lifted,” said the group.
Article continues after this advertisementFree lodging and food was already given to travelers since Thursday and workers have disinfected the quarantine locations on Friday.
“The Clark International Airport will remain operational should there be inbound and outbound international flights. For international outbound flights, only OFWs, balikbayans, and foreign nationals will be allowed to leave, while inbound international passengers will be subjected to strict quarantine protocols.”
