Abra LGU to declare state of calamity though lone COVID-19 case recovering
BAGUIO CITY–The first confirmed case of novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Abra province and Cordillera region is now recovering and his fever has gone down to 37 degrees Celsius, said Abra Gov. Maria Jocelyn Bernos.
AC-1 (Abra Covid Patient 1) is a 39-year-old seafarer who returned from the United Arab Emirates and a resident of Barangay Catacdegan Nuevo in Manabo, Abra.
Bernos said she was hoping the individual would be discharged in a few days.
Another Person Under Investigation (PUI) in the town of Langiden, also in Abra, is also no longer showing symptoms of the disease.
On Monday, Bernos declared the whole province on community quarantine until April 16 to prevent the spread of disease. The local government is also expected to declare a state of calamity.
Under quarantine, residents are still permitted to leave their houses to access basic necessities and to work within the province.
Delivery of agricultural products shall be allowed entry except those subject to quarantine. However, exit of farm produce is restricted.
The local government will also impose curfew hours from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. effective immediately.
As of afternoon of Monday (March 16), 10 individuals were listed as persons under investigation, or those with symptoms, while 246 others were considered as persons under monitoring, or those without symptoms, in the province.
