Rain showers possible Thursday in some areas in Luzon

MANILA, Philippines — Expect rain showers over several areas in Luzon on Thursday due to the tail-end of a cold front, the weather state bureau said.

In its 24-hour weather forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) warned the residents in Aurora, Quezon, Rizal, and Laguna of possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms as the tail-end of a cold front is expected to bring cloudy skies with rain showers and isolated thunderstorms in the areas.

Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon or Amihan will bring cloudy skies with light rains over Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, and Ifugao.

It may also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over the Ilocos Region and the rest of the Cordillera Region and the Cagayan Valley.

Pagasa, however, noted Amihan has no significant effect on the country.

Localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers over Metro Manila and the rest of the country, it added.

This may cause possible flash floods or landslides, Pagasa warned.
