LUCENA CITY –– Police arrested a suspected illegal drug trafficker from Cavite province and seized P342,000 worth of shabu (crystal meth) in a buy-bust operation in Tayabas City on Tuesday, police said.

Major Matt Amat, Tayabas police chief, identified the suspect as John Philip Aloysius Santos, 20, and resident of Dasmariñas City.

Police said Santos was caught by anti-illegal drug operatives after he sold shabu to a police agent in Barangay Calumpang around 3 p.m.

According to Colonel Audie Madrideo, Quezon police director, Quezon province was now the point of distribution of illegal drugs as there were no more Quezon-based drug syndicates.

He said the illegal drugs, which were sourced from different places outside of the province were being sneaked in to Quezon aboard public utility transports, particularly commuter vans.
