Puerto woman with no foreign travel watched for coronavirus
PUERTO PRINCESA CITY—A 45-year-old female resident of Puerto Princesa City is being monitored for possible novel coronavirus (COVID-19) infection.
Dr. Mario Baquilod, Department of Health (DOH) Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan (Mimaropa) chief, confirmed on Monday (March 9) that the woman was being monitored and in isolation at a private hospital.
The woman has no travel history abroad.
However, she works for a non-government organization in Puerto Princesa City, which deals with foreign travellers.
She was flagged for monitoring after tests results showed she had “atypical pneumonia”. Her symptoms include difficulty in breathing and fever.
Specimen for COVID-19 confirmatory tests were gathered and would be brought to the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM).
