MANILA, Philippines — After “ironing out issues” with the project proponents, Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte has lifted the cease and desist order against the aboveground construction of the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) 7-Quezon Memorial Circle (QMC) station.

On Feb. 18, Belmonte issued the order to contractor EEI after finding out that the project had greatly exceeded the agreed area for construction, which she said would affect the landmark’s identity as a national heritage park.

Based on the project’s permit and clearance, the contractor indicated 4,997 square meters as its floor area.

The proposed floor area, however, is more than five times the approved figure.
