Young man shoots, injures father

A 21-YEAR-OLD man shot and wounded his father following an argument inside their house in barangay Cabangahan, Consolacion town, northern Cebu.

Jeff Maraño told police that he acted in self-defense when he shot his father whom he said tried to hack him with a bolo.

Absalon Maraño, a carpenter, was wounded in the body.

Absalon told police that his son asked money from him so he could have his motorcycle repaired.

The older Maraño said he turned down his son’s request on suspicion that he would use the money in buying drugs.

Absalon’s refusal resulted into an argument.

Absalon said that while they were arguing, his son drew a gun and shot him.

The son fled after the incident while the father was rushed to the North General Hospital.
