Charcoal worker hacked dead

A 35-year-old charcoal maker was hacked to death by his co-worker in barangay Malingin, Bogo City, northern Cebu.

Police identified the fatality as Teodoro “Butsoy” Veraque.

The suspect Dante Alburo, 32, was arrested in a hot pursuit operation.

Revenge could be the motive in the attack.

Police said Veraque allegedly mauled Alburo’s 16-year-old brother hours before the killing last Wednesday night.

Police said Veraque was in their worksite around 10 p.m. when Alburo arrived and attacked the victim with a bolo.

Veraque fled after the attack. He was arrested yesterday morning inside his house in sitio Cabancalan, barangay Dakit.

Police recovered a bolo beieved to have been used in the killing.

Alburo was detained at the Bogo police station pending the filing of charges against him.
