7 NCR cops test positive for drug use, 1 included in narcolist
MANILA, Philippines — Seven cops assigned in Metro Manila have tested positive for illegal drug use, while one of them has been included in the government’s controversial drug watchlist.
National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Maj. Gen. Debold Sinas on Friday identified the alleged “narco cop” as Police Staff Sergeant Ronald Carpio, who tested positive for crystal meth or “shabu” use.
“Si Police Staff Sergeant Ronald Carpio ay nagpositive for the use of shabu, kasama po siya sa 357 watchlist ng so-called suspected narco cop,” he said in a press conference.

Sinas did not identify the six other cops who tested positive in the recent round of random drug testing among NCR cops.
Article continues after this advertisementAbout 6,000 cops underwent random drug testing since October last year, wherein one commissioned police officer and six non-commissioned police officers have tested positive.
Article continues after this advertisementAside from Carpio, Sinas further said that 31 cops under the NCRPO are included in the drugs watchlist of President Rodrigo Duterte, 22 of which are already undergoing adjudication.
Meanwhile, nine of the cops are declared AWOL (absent without leave).
“Continuing ‘yung adjudication and drug test. If ever may mahuli na gumagamit sa kanila at mahuli namin i-post namin (The adjudication and drug test is continuing. If we find them guilty of drug use, we will announce it),” Sinas said.
