5 tons of meat, processed food seized in Camarines Norte

LEGAZPI CITY –– Authorities and agriculture officials confiscated about five tons of undocumented meat and processed foods in an operation from Wednesday night to Thursday morning in Sta. Elena town in Camarines Norte province.

Major Elezaldy Calingacion, Sta. Elena police chief, said various passenger buses and trucking service vehicles were inspected through a checkpoint in the quarantine area of the agriculture office in Barangay Tabugon.

“All of the vehicles were inspected in the quarantine area along with the campaign against African Swine Fever,” Calingacion said.

He said the agriculture team immediately buried the confiscated items, believed to be transported from Metro Manila, in a safe place.
