Fire in QC destroys P3-M worth of properties, displaces 100 families
MANILA, Philippines—Roughly P3 million-worth of properties was destroyed and around 100 families were displaced after a fire of still unknown origin blazed a squatters’ area in Quezon City Thursday, a fire officer from Bureau of Fire Protection-QC said.
Senior Fire Officer 2 Mauricio Jose said the fire in Pugad Lawin, Sitio Militar in Barangay (village) Toro, Quezon City, which started around 2:06 p.m., reached fifth alarm before it was declared out around 3:30 p.m.
Jose said that while 50 shanties were burned down by the fire, no one was reported hurt as of posting time.
The cause of fire is yet to be determined by investigators, he said.
