According to the OVP, the giving of flowers on Valentine’s Day has been a tradition started by Robredo’s late husband, former Interior Secretary, and former Naga City mayor Jesse Robredo.

Though not a holiday, Valentine’s Day is widely celebrated in the Philippines by couples and single people alike.
