Eastern part of Mindanao to experience cloudy weather due to LPA

MANILA, Philippines — Provinces in Mindanao especially on its eastern part may experience cloudy skies Thursday night due to the low-pressure area (LPA) on the southern seas within the Philippine area of responsibility.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), the LPA was last located 480 kilometers east southeast of Davao City.

“Meron po tayong low-pressure area na binabantayan […] kaya makakaranas po sila ng makulimlim na panahon dito especially dito sa eastern section ng Mindanao,” weather specialist Ezra Bulquerin said during Pagasa’s forecast on Thursday afternoon.

Meanwhile, the eastern section of Luzon, specifically the Cagayan Valley Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Quezon province, and Bicol Region would have light rains and cloudy skies Thursday night due to the northeast monsoon or amihan.

Visayas’ Thursday night would also be cloudy and accompanied with occasional rain showers and thunderstorms due to the tail end of a cold front, or the mixture of the northeast monsoon and warm easterlies coming from the Pacific Ocean, according to Pagasa.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, on the other hand, could expect fair weather, with temperatures in the National Capital Region warming up between 24 and 30 degrees Celsius on Thursday night.

On the contrary, temperatures in Baguio City and Tuguegarao City in Cagayan would stay low at 13 to 23 degrees Celsius in the summer capital and 18 to 28 degrees Celsius in Tuguegarao.

A gale warning is currently raised over the northern and eastern seaboards of Luzon, including the areas of Batanes, Calayan, Babuyan, Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Northern Quezon, Polilio Island, Camarines provinces, Catanduanes, Rapu-Rapu Islands, Sorsogon, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, and Ilocos Norte.

Due to the gale warning, Pagasa cautioned fisherfolks using small sea crafts to desist from sailing due to rough to very rough sea conditions.
