Chinese man rescued from alleged kidnappers; 8 suspects arrested

MANILA, Philippines — A Chinese man was rescued from his alleged kidnappers, who are all also Chinese nationals, in Dongalo, Parañaque City on Wednesday morning.

The Philippine National Police-Anti-Kidnapping Group (PNP-AKG) identified the victim as Zhang Benqiin Abo. AKG operatives also arrested the eight suspects — four men and four women.

Police said Zhang and his unidentified companion were having breakfast in a restaurant beside a hotel in Pasay City when the suspects approached and talked to them

Police said Zhang’s companion reportedly went out of the restaurant after he sensed that there was something wrong in the conversation. Zhang was later forcibly dragged by the suspects and was forced into a sports utility vehicle (SUV).

Zhang’s companion saw the entire incident and immediately informed the hotel’s security personnel who then called the police.

Police then launched a pursuit operation to go after the suspects and rescue Zhang.

Police found the abandoned Zhang along PITX Avenue, Parañaque. Police said Zhang’s hands were both bound with packaging tape. He was also blindfolded.

Meanwhile, police were able to track the suspects’ vehicle to Marina Street in Dongalo, Paranaque, where the suspects were also arrested.

Seized from the suspects were one caliber .45 with four live ammunition and a black SUV.

Police said the suspects are now under the custody of the PNP-AKG.
