3 dead in Laguna highway mishap
MANILA, Philippines — Three persons were killed while two others were injured after they were hit by a delivery truck in Pangil, Laguna early morning Thursday.
Police said the victims were walking along the Manila East Road in Barangay Sulib in Pangil at around 1 a.m. when the tragic incident occurred.
The fatalities were identified as Elma Tonel Garcia, 25 ; Athena Eljey Tonel Garcia, 5 and Carl Justine Montegrande Macuñal, 7. Injured were Gretchen Barrera Tonel, 29 and Giselle Montegrande Macuñal, 25.

The five victims were brought by bystanders and first responders to the General Cailles Memorial District Hospital.
Police said the driver of the delivery truck voluntarily surrendered at the Pagsanjan Municipal Police Station.
