Cold weather continues due to ‘amihan’

MANILA, Philippines – The northeast monsoon, or amihan, will continue to affect the country’s weather conditions in the next few days, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported Monday afternoon.
Metro Manila, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Calabarzon, and Bicol Region will experience cloudy skies with light rain, while the rest of the country will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rain.
The cold wind brought by amihan will continue to be felt in most parts of the country.
At 5:40 a. m., the temperature in Metro Manila was at 21.4 degrees Celsius, while in Baguio City, it dropped to 10.8 degrees at 6 a. m..
Also due to strong winds brought by amihan, gale warning is still up along the country’s eastern seaboard. Small fishing vessels are not allowed to sail due to waves reaching 4.5 meters high.
Meanwhile, Pagasa is monitoring a weak low-pressure area (LPA) located outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR).
The LPA, together with a tail-end of a cold front, is expected to enter PAR on Thursday morning and may bring isolated rain and thunderstorms over Visayas and Mindanao by Thursday afternoon.
