BACOLOD CITY—A 43-year-old Canadian national and a 12-year-old Filipino are being monitored for possible novel coronavirus (nCoV) in Bacolod City, the city’s health office said.

Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson  said the male foreigner had a travel history to Taiwan.

The Filipino being monitored flew in from Hong Kong.

Lacson said the Filipino “wanted to be admitted at a private hospital but I think was refused” and brought instead to the CLMMRH.

“What is important is we know about them, and the matter is being addressed,” Lacson said.

“What is also clear is (they were quarantined) because of their travel history  and it is not because of local transmission,” the governor added.
