LUCENA CITY—A Bureau of Internal Revenue officer lost P600,000-cash and an undetermined worth of valuables to robbers who entered his house in Barangay Ibabang Dupay.

A driver of the victim discovered the robbery on Monday morning when he noticed that the front door of the house was opened, said SPO1 Aldrin Andres, city police investigator.

Andres said the victim, identified as Marlon Cabance, lost P565,000 and $200 in cash; a gold wrist watch worth P15,000; one laptop; credit card and ATM cards. Police found the empty leather bag, which used to contain the money, hidden in tall cogon grasses in a nearby lot. Delfin Mallari Jr., Inquirer Southern Luzon
