Albay, no stranger to volcanoes, to send water trucks, purifying machines to Batangas for Taal eruption victims

LEGAZPI CITY—The provincial government of Albay, no stranger to volcanoes with its experience with Mayon, is sending two trucks that officials said would bring water and a water purifying machine to Taal Volcano eruption victims in the province of Batangas.

Cedric Daep, head of the Albay Public Safety Emergency Management Office (Apsemo), said the provincial government, through its provincial disaster risk reduction office, decided to send a team to help in purifying water and distributing clean water to areas where it would be needed.

Daep said the two trucks could provide 22,000 liters of sanitized water while the purifying machine can clean 1,000 liters of water.

The humanitarian team would be in Batangas for 15 days and composed of employees from the provincial government of Albay.

The team was expected to leave for Batangas at 7 p.m. on Wednesday (Jan. 22) after a brief sendoff ceremony at the Apsemo office.
