LEGAZPI CITY –– An ongoing firefight between government troops and suspected members of the New People’s Army was reported in Labo town, Camarines Norte on Wednesday morning.

Colonel Marlon Tejada, director of the Camarines Norte police, said in an initial report that the police 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company and the Army’s 96th Infantry Battalion encountered 12 rebels in Barangay Malaya at 8:10 a.m.

The firefight continues as government forces pursue the rebels, Tejada said.
