DOH extends polio vaccination program

MANILA, Philippines — Health Secretary Francisco Duque III urged all parents and caregivers of children under 5 years old to have their kids vaccinated against polio as the Department of Health (DOH) extends its Sabayang Patak Kontra Polio campaign beginning on Monday.

The succeeding rounds are scheduled on Jan. 20 to Feb. 2 in all regions of Mindanao, and on Jan. 27 to Feb. 7 in the National Capital Region.

The DOH earlier confirmed four more polio cases in the country, bringing the total number of polio cases to 16 since the outbreak was declared in September 2019.—Tina G. Santos
