9,500 stranded in Bicol ports

LEGAZPI CITY – More than 9,500 passengers were stranded in major ports in the Bicol region due to Tropical Storm Ursula on Tuesday morning.

A report from the Office of Civil Defense said 8,637 passengers were stranded in Sorsogon; 733 in Albay; 56 in Camarines Sur; and 39 in Masbate.

The Philippine Coast Guard has carried out the “no sailing” policy after the local weather bureau has raised signal number one in the six Bicol provinces.

Also stranded were 1,112 trucks, buses and cars.

There were also 21 sea vessels and small sea crafts that were not allowed to sail.
