SC allows live coverage of Maguindanao massacre case promulgation

MANILA, Philippines–The Supreme Court has allowed the live media coverage of the Maguindanao massacre promulgation judgment on Dec. 19, 2019.

In a notice made public Friday, the High Court has set guidelines for the live coverage and broadcast of the promulgation in various media platforms.

The Maguindanao massacre case trial has stretched to 10 years with over a hundred accused of the death of 58 people including 32 journalists.

The High Court said there will only be two cameras inside the courtroom that will be manned by the state-owned PTV4.

The two cameras shall feed into the cables of the different media networks to enable the live coverage.

One of the cameras shall be directed at the judge and the one reading the decision while the other camera shall be at the counsels, accused, relatives of the victims. Both cameras will be on a wide shot. The cameras will not pan over the surroundings or zoom in on any individual.

The High Court issued the notice upon the request of various media outfits and organizations.
