Did You Know: Dec. 10 is Human Rights Day

Human Rights Day is observed every Dec. 10 by virtue of Proclamation No. 347 signed on Oct. 21, 1952, by then President Elpidio Quirino.

On Dec. 10, 1948, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly.

National Human Rights Consciousness Week is also observed annually from Dec. 4 to 10 by virtue of Republic Act No. 9201 signed on April 1, 2003.—Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
