NDRRMC: More than 200k families affected, 172,613 houses damaged by Tisoy

MANILA, Philippines — More than 200,000 families were affected while 172,613 homes were damaged by Typhoon Tisoy (international name Kammuri) in Luzon and Visayas, the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) said Saturday.
In its 6 a.m. situation report, the NDRRMC said 225,964 families or 970,464 individuals were affected by Tisoy in the Bicol region, Central Luzon, Eastern Visayas, the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) and Caraga.
Of the 172, 613 damaged houses 134, 537 were partially damaged while 38,076 were totally damaged in the Bicol region, Western Visayas, Central Luzon, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon), Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan) and Caraga.
NDRRMC said 54 were injured in Tisoy’s wake while the death toll was pegged at 12.
Tisoy’s damage to agriculture was at P2.096 billion while the number of partially damaged schools were at 212, the NDRRMC said.
A recent report from the state weather bureau said Tisoy was downgraded to a low-pressure area and was located outside of the Philippine area of responsibility.
