5.7 Davao Occidental quake felt also in 2 other Mindanao provinces
MANILA, Philippines – A shallow magnitude 5.7 earthquake was recorded 145 kilometers southeast off the coast of Jose Abad Santos town in Davao Occidental on Thursday evening, Dec. 5.
According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), the tectonic earthquake had a depth of 35 meters.
The quake was felt at different intensities elsewhere. It was felt at intensity 4 in Malungon, Sarangani; intensity 2 in General Santos City, Tupi town of South Cotabato and Kiamba in Sarangani and intensity I in Gingoog City.
Tsunami warnings were not raised, but Phivolcs said that aftershocks are expected.
