Ex-LTO employee dead in Lucena hit-and-run

LUCENA CITY – A retired employee of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) was killed when he was bumped by a speeding automobile along the diversion road in this city late Wednesday night.

A police report identified the victim as Celso Zeta, 54, a resident of Barangay Silangang Mayor in this city.

The police said Zeta was hit by a fast-running vehicle, which was described as a black sedan with an unidentified plate number, while crossing the highway in his home village around 10 p.m.

Quoting witnesses, the report said Zeta was dragged several meters away upon impact.

The hit-and-run driver sped off from the scene, while the victim died on the spot from grave head and body injuries.

The police immediately issued a flash alarm for the arrest of the still-unidentified driver. Delfin T. Mallari Jr.
